Italian support for the World Food Programme
Italy confirms its commitment to the population of Gaza, continuing its collaboration with the World Food Program (WFP) to increase the distribution of humanitarian aid in one of the most fragile areas of the Middle East.
The goal is clear: to get food aid to the people. in the shortest possible time to the beneficiaries, taking advantage of the opportunities of the Trump Plan and the recent cease-fire.
The “Food for Gaza” initiative and the Italian trucks
I 15 trucks donated by Italy to WFP, as part of the initiative “Food for Gaza”, are already operational and travel daily along the routes between the crossings and the Gaza Strip.
The vehicles are used not only for transportation, but also for direct distribution of aid: food and basic necessities supplied by Italy or purchased by the United Nations thanks to international contributions.
New aid leaving Italy
Il Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Led by Antonio Tajani, announced a further increase in humanitarian support.
On the instructions of the minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating a new operation to collect materials and food supplies destined for Gaza.
Un Humanitarian flight will depart from the UN base in Brindisi to transfer new supplies.
Diplomacy and cooperation for reconstruction
At the same time, Italian diplomacy works with international partners to plan structural support and reconstruction interventions, which can be launched once the operational conditions are created in the Strip.
Italy's support to the WFP is part of a broader strategy of solidarity and international cooperation, in line with the Italian tradition of humanitarian aid in crisis areas.
A model of international solidarity
The initiative Food for Gaza represents a model of virtuous collaboration between governments, UN agencies and donor communities, to ensure direct care, food security and dignity to the most vulnerable populations.
