Israel frees hostage from Gaza: Tensions and clashes in the West Bank.

Today is marked by significant developments in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Israeli army announced with satisfaction the rescue of Qaid Farhan al-Qadi, a 52-year-old hostage kidnapped by Hamas terrorists. Al-Qadi was extracted from a tunnel in Rafah, southern Gaza, in a complex operation involving Shayetet 13 troops, the Yahalom unit and the Shin Bet. Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed great happiness at the success of the operation and confirmed their commitment to the return of all hostages still in Hamas hands.

Al-Qadi, a father of 11 children and two wives, was transferred to Beersheba hospital for medical checks. After being rescued, he expressed his relief and gratitude, while his family members were evidently happy at his return. However, the situation remains critical and complex.

In the West Bank, clashes between Israeli settlers and Palestinians left one Palestinian dead and three others injured. Hamas responded with a call for a day of anger, inciting Palestinians to intensify protests and clashes against settlers.

The Palestinian death toll in Gaza has tragically risen to 40.476 since October 7, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, with a further 113 injured in the last 24 hours. This number reflects the intensity and severity of the ongoing conflict.

The United States has warned that an Iranian attack on Israel is still a distinct possibility, although it is unclear when it might happen. The White House national security spokesperson stressed that Iranian rhetoric is taken seriously and that the United States stands ready to defend Israel.

Meanwhile, the Israeli negotiating team, composed of the heads of the Mossad, the Shin Bet and representatives of the army, will leave for Doha to start discussions with representatives of Egypt, the United States and Qatar, trying to find a truce and plan the release of the other hostages.

On the diplomatic front, the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon confirmed that Iran intends to respond to Israel for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. At the same time, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on Islamic countries to unite to withdraw support for Israel.

In another development, Emergency has finally been granted permission to enter the Gaza Strip to provide basic healthcare to the war-affected population, despite difficult security conditions and a large area under evacuation orders.
