Germany, attack in Solingen: three dead and several injured during the 650th Anniversary celebrations.

During the 650th anniversary of the city of Solingen, Germany, a tragic attack shook the community.

Around 21pm, a man armed with a knife attacked the participants of the city festival, causing the death of at least three people and injuring eight others, five of whom were in serious condition.

The victims, according to initial information, are a woman and two men, all local residents. The event, which had attracted thousands of visitors, turned into a scene of panic and horror.

Dozens of rescuers were immediately deployed to provide aid to the injured, while a police helicopter flew over the area to coordinate emergency operations.

The attacker, described by some witnesses as a man of Arab origin, is currently on the run, with the police force having launched a large-scale manhunt. Local police have not ruled out the terrorist nature of the attack, and heavily armed SEK special units have been mobilized from across North Rhine-Westphalia to ensure security and capture the perpetrator.

Fronhof Square, the center of the celebrations, was quickly evacuated, with authorities closing road intersections and asking residents to stay in their homes.

The mayor of Solingen, Tim Kurzbach, expressed his sorrow on social media, sharing the shock and sadness that pervades the city. In a touching message, he said: «Tonight we are all in shock. We wanted to celebrate the anniversary of our city together and now we have to mourn the dead and wounded. It breaks my heart. I have tears in my eyes when I think of those we have lost. I pray for all those who are still fighting for their lives."

The city, instead of celebrating an important anniversary, now finds itself having to deal with the consequences of a violent attack that left a deep wound in the community.
