In the night between Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October, Russia attacked several localities in Ukraine, causing the death of 5 people and the intervention of Polish military forces, which would be activated to protect their country's airspace.
Regarding the attacks, Ukrainian President Zelensky declared on X: “Last night, Ukraine was again subjected to a combined attack by Russia, with over 50 missiles and around 500 attack drones. The regions of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odessa and Kirovohrad were affected. It is currently known that around ten people were injured in the attack. The Ukrainian president continues: “Today the Russians once again targeted our infrastructure, or everything that ensures a normal life for our population. We need greater protection and faster implementation of all defense agreements, especially those related to air defense, to deprive these acts of aerial terrorism of any meaning. A unilateral ceasefire in the skies is possible, and that's precisely what could pave the way for real diplomacy. America and Europe must act to stop Putin.".
110 Italian activists narrowly escape tragedy in Lviv
Among those attacked were 110 Italian activists returning from the tenth mission of the European Movement for Nonviolent Action. The group had left from Kiev and found themselves under the rain of missiles that hit Lviv as their train headed toward the Polish border.
