At the stand of the Municipality set up in Piazza Unità on the occasion of the Settimana dei Castelli, the curator of the Museo del Mare, Andrea Bonifacio will illustrate the exhibition “The journey into modernity. 1924-1938 Trieste in the evolution of the liner”, set up in the Nathan room of Warehouse 26.
The exhibition explores, through period photographs, drawings, advertising sketches and naval models, the theme of the evolution of the design of liners and their decoration, as well as the pursuit of luxury and speed, which characterised what was an unrepeatable golden age for liners, to which Trieste contributed significantly.
During the conferencethe evolution of technology, design and on-board environments will be illustrated, including anecdotes and curiosities relating to the 10 ships featured in the exhibition, namely Saturnia (1925/1936), Vulcania (1928/1935), Victoria (1930), Conte di Savoia (1931), Neptunia (1931), Oceania (1932), Pilsudski (1934), Batory (1935), Stockholm (1938) and Vega (1938), built in the shipyards of Trieste and Monfalcone.
The exhibition is conceived and created by the Tourist Promotion, Museums, Cultural and Sports Events Service of the Municipality of Trieste, with the coordination of Patrizia Fasolato, Head of Scientific Museums, and the curatorship of Andrea Bonifacio and Silvia Pinna, curators, with the contribution of Anna Longo, cultural officer of the Museo del Mare
“The Journey into Modernity. 1924-1938 Trieste in the Evolution of the Liner”, is open to the public until February 16, 2025, with free admission, from Thursday to Sunday.
