The Triennale programming Milano for autumn 2024: exhibitions and activities.

Triennale's new autumn programme Milano: a dialogue between design and fashion.

The relationship between design and fashion will be at the center of the programming of Three-year Milano this autumn, through an offer that presents a further evolution in content and science dedicated to the heritage of the institution and insights into some great figures in the world of fashion, such as Elio Fiorucci and Monica Bolzoni.

The different initiatives – which include exhibition projects, public program meetings, study days, screenings, workshops and other activities – flow into the new fashion department of Triennale Milano, which will study, exhibit and enhance archives and heritage related to fashion and promote training courses in dialogue with schools and universities. The department will involve Marco Sammicheli, curator for Design, fashion, craftsmanship and Director of the Triennale Museum of Italian Design, and will avail itself of the scientific consultancy of Luca Stoppini.

From 25 October 2024 the Museum of Italian Design will present a new exhibition itinerary that will bring together some expressions of Italian and international fashion design with design objects from the Triennale's permanent collection. A comparison between the two disciplines that will develop starting from a reflection on compositional methods and material, methodological, productive and training assonances. The exhibition projects opening in autumn
Museum of Italian Design

Directed by: Marco Sammicheli
Exhibition project by: Luca Stoppini
October 25, 2024 - April 13, 2025

The Museo del Design Italiano presents a new exhibition itinerary focused on the story of design and fashion, thus making explicit the close relationship that links the two disciplines. The itinerary will see some expressions of Italian and international fashion design in dialogue with a selection of the most significant projects of Italian design, part of the permanent collection of the Triennale Milano. This comparison between fashion and design develops starting from a reflection on the compositional methods, on the material, methodological, productive and training assonances that characterize fashion and design.

Monica Bolzoni. The module
Edited by: Marco Sammicheli and Anna Di Cesare
Exhibition project by: Paolo Giacomazzi
25 October 2024 - 12 January 2025
Design Platform

The exhibition delves into the work of Monica Bolzoni, designer of clothes, accessories, jewelry, designer of installations and interiors, a key figure in design and fashion planning. The exhibition addresses various themes, including Bolzoni's design approach, the relationship between materials and shapes, her view of contemporary culture expressed in clothes, elements that also belong to the tradition of design and interior architecture. It also addresses some stages of her career, which began in 1970 between Milano and Paris as fashion coordinator, a position she initially held for Frank Olivier and subsequently for Fiorucci, which allowed her to learn the method and ability to manage the entire creative process.

Elio Fiorucci
By: Judith Clark
Exhibition project by: Fabio Cherstich
6 November 2024 – 16 March 2025
Curve

The exhibition aims to restore the different creative dimensions of Elio Fiorucci, designer, stylist, cool hunter and Italian entrepreneur, founder of the brand of the same name which has revolutionized costume, fashion and the contemporary art scene in Italy since the 1960s . The exhibition is proposed as a retrospective with a clear biographical intent, which includes the human, entrepreneurial and cultural events of Elio Fiorucci, bringing a new look at his figure. The entire exhibition is permeated by the voice of Elio Fiorucci - rendered through hitherto unreleased recordings - which retraces some personal moments and is put into dialogue with the voices of other protagonists in the designer's history.

Gianni Politi
The stars for you, inside

By: Damiano Gullì
September 28 - October 27, 2024
Impluvium

Using classic materials and in line with the Italian pictorial tradition, Gianni Politi's poetics revolves around concepts such as life, death, memory and rebirth. For Triennale the artist has created an original installation, in which a new work is in dialogue with previous pictorial series and zoomorphic sculptural elements, referring to frogs, amphibians that in many cultures symbolize both the concept of metamorphosis and that of crossing the threshold between worlds.

Ettore Sottsass. Architectures, Landscapes, Ruins
Edited by: Barbara Radice and Iskra Grisogono of Studio Sottsass with Marco Sammicheli
Art direction: Christoph Radl
October 4, 2024 - April 13, 2025
Sottsass Hall

The fifth exhibition at Sala Sottsass continues to delve into the figure of the great architect and designer through thematic insights that, starting from the installation at Casa Lana, offer narrative ideas and research opportunities. In the new exhibition project, which continues the scientific collaboration with Studio Sottsass and the creative consultancy of Christoph Radl, the dimension of architecture is explored, approached through landscape, photography and drawing.

Davide Allieri. After All
By: Damiano Gullì
14 November 2024 - 19 January 2025
Impluvium

The solo exhibition dedicated to Davide Allieri is part of the promotion and valorization of the new Italian art scene that Triennale has been carrying out for some years. The artist exhibits a new body of works specifically conceived for the Impluvium, in which several characteristic themes of his practice emerge: from experimentation with materials to reflections on space-time as a dystopian habitat in which abandoned shell-devices dialogue with each other in a post-apocalyptic scenario.

Seçkin Pirim at the Triennale
By: Tommaso Tovaglieri
20 November 2024 - 19 January 2025
Spaces in front of Triennale, common spaces of Triennale

Seçkin Pirim's sculptures explore form, color and reiteration of formal patterns. By measuring himself with a variety of media, the artist analyzes the relationship between work and space, the dichotomy between nature and culture and the boundaries between art and design. His minimalist sculptures combine computer-generated elements with others constructed manually, thus fueling a dialogue between technology and craftsmanship that becomes epic.
