The State Police presented the “Writers in Uniform” on Friday 10 May, on the second day of the International Book Fair in Turin.at stand V194 of the Oval Pavilion, in addition to the many activities and demonstrations offered by the police officers of the State Police Specialties and the Turin Police Headquarters. Meetings with the police-writers were held in the Poliziamoderna corner, moderated by the editors of the official monthly magazine of the State Police, who presented their literary works.

The program of the day:

 At 11:00, opened with a series of meetings, a double presentation on the topic of gender violence and featured Salvatore Blasco, Deputy Commissioner in service at the Emilia Romagna Highway Police Department, with Blind Love – Diary of a Police Commissioner (the events of domestic violence with the narrative voice of the protagonist, a Calabrian commissioner of the Flying Squad who carries out investigations to get to the bottom of the crime) and Giorgia Piredda, agent on duty at Milano, which with the partially autobiographical story Shipwreck inside you, tells the story of a young policewoman dealing with the testimonies of women victims of violence and her attempts to convince them to report.

The afternoon session opened at 16pm with the presentation of Checkmate – The King is Dead new novel by Rita Cascella, first director of the Treviso police headquarters, also author of “The Brood of Ramfis”, which sees the events of the lively commissioner Beatrice Pergolesi at the center of the story. In this new case he becomes interested in a new investigation involving a chess champion.

Closing, at 17 pm, it was Raffaele Iacaruso's turn, deputy superintendent of the Novara Scientific Police, to talk about his new work Identikit degli invincibili – The Great Torino made with the author's drawings made with a simple Bic pen; with his drawings, Iacaruso tells the legend of “Invincibles” of the Great Torino which was interrupted on 4 May 1949 with the tragic plane crash on the Superga hill, the 75th anniversary of which occurs this year, also recently remembered in the first stage of the Giro d'Italia, which started from the Piedmontese capital, the route of which included a passage over the site of the crash.

At the State Police exhibition area, it was possible to learn more about the graphic novel Inspector Mascherpa, an editorial product of the Poliziamoderna magazine, now in its sixth volume, Christmas fire, where Diamante's commissioner will have to investigate the murder of an entrepreneur killed with a Kalashnikov shot after his factory was set on fire, a real mafia-style warning.

The comic, conceived as an educational vehicle of legality towards young people, is also an instrument of solidarity since the proceeds from the sale are destined for the Marco Valerio Plan, a project created to provide concrete support for the treatment of serious and chronic pediatric diseases of the children of State Police employees. It was possible to purchase at the stand the 6 volumes (The Silver Rose, Black Sea, Bandits, Onorata Sanità and The Return of the Scorpion and Christmas Fire) as well as Murky Waters and Big Game, volumes published in English.
