At the beginning of this project there was the concept of "creation" and the many stories "of the beginning of everything" that people have always told each other. Added to this was the simple question: what could a theater evening that begins with the beginning of everything? And above all: how does it end? But let's go back to the beginning. The darkness has become light, the divine breath has been inspired and the first lovers find themselves in the paradise garden. They dare to take their first steps together as a couple, they seek shelter from and gentle cosmetics and, thank God, they find an affordable apartment. Fate soon drags the young couple on roller coaster of life. With each child, centrifugal forces grow and threaten to destroy the family.

Familie Flöz expands its toolbox for this show and, in addition to the well-known masked figures, also shows the actors behind them. By playing music, singing, filming, speaking or making noises, the ensemble creates the world of masks before the eyes of the audience. They take turns lending their bodies to the figures and taking their destiny into their own hands. Creator and creation meet until the story tells itself.

The title Hokuspokus plays with the alleged origin of the word, a popular corruption of the Latin “Hoc est enim corpus meum” – “This is my body”. Or it's just a sleight of hand. Hokuspokus talks to us about the theater as a box of wonders that we visit for celebrate the game of lies and truth.

"In Hokuspokus everything is fake, but nothing is fake. Nothing is more real than these masks. Familie Flöz gives life to a metatheatrical illusion that is poetic and innovative, atavistic and experiential, physical and magical at the same time. A hymn to transformism, a celebration of music, color and customs. A show that deserves a standing ovation from the audience“. (F. Chiaro – Persinsala)
