The cycle dedicated to ancient languages at the Luigi Rovati Foundation concludes Milano.

The cycle dedicated to ancient languages ends Luigi Rovati Foundation of Milano with the meeting “The evolution of language”, which takes inspiration from ancient times to reflect on the possible futures of the language.

From the anthropological contexts described in relation to ancient languages up to today: what is the anthropological and linguistic structure of the current "metropolitan planet"? Can we think of a future with an artificial language by transforming languages into a single “unified” one? At the end of the series of meetings on ancient languages at Luigi Rovati Foundation, we turn our gaze towards possible evolutionary scenarios.

In relation to the meaning of the words "evolution"and "English Language”, the topic of changes affecting languages, words and the codes that constitute them is addressed. The meeting reflects on the possibility of determining, and to what extent, such changes, and whether they also imply a change in thinking. The linguistic imposition that has occurred at various moments in history by political regimes, in particular totalitarian ones, is also given as an example.

The meeting also analyzes the relationship between language and the economy of time, from slow to fast languages. To finally get to focus on the iconic languages that are specific to us, connected in particular to technologies (smartphones or PCs) and different signs, and a relationship with the system of the alphabet and words is established.

Finally, the model for the construction of an artificial language in the future is hypothesized.
