Rome: “Science forest” by Adat Studio wins the international design tender.

È Science Forest by Adat Studio, Roman reality with international experience, the winning project of the international design tender for the Science Museum of Rome that will be accomplished in the spaces of the former barracks in via Guido Reni, Flaminio district. It was proclaimed this morning, in fact, in the presence of the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, the Councilor for Urban Planning Maurizio Veloccia, the Councilor for Culture Miguel Gotor, the President of the Municipality of Rome II, Francesca del Bello, the first place winner. And, at the same time, the models and renderings of the project were revealed.

The Science Museum is part of the overall redevelopment project of the former barracks curated by CDP Real Asset SGR and represents one of the main urban regeneration interventions launched in Rome, contributing to strengthening the cultural identity of the city, relaunching its national and international role. The new cultural center will be built in the area of ​​the former Military Establishment in via Guido Reni, Flaminio district, and will complete an urban system of the highest value in which, among others, the Ponte della Musica, the Auditorium are already present and the MAXXI with its expansion project.

The identification of today's winning proposal therefore begins the overall project which will proceed in parallel with the private intervention which also includes the creation of a Civic Centre. Part of the necessary financial resources to construction derive from urban planning contribution extraordinary amount that CDP/implementing entity will pay based on its intervention.

Il competition announced last November by the Urban Planning Department of Rome Capital, as part of the urban transformation process of the former Military Establishment for Electronic and Precision Materials in Via Guido Reni, it was divided into two phases:

· the before purchasing, finalized to the acquisition of idea proposals it ended last January with the presentation of 70 project proposals, among which the judging commission chaired by the internationally renowned architect Daniel Libeskind selected the five finalists admitted to the second phase;

· the second for the acquisition of the 5 technical feasibility projects and economic sectors selected, from which the Commission chose the winner.

The investment put in place for the realization of the work amounts to approximately 75 million euro.

A once the administrative checks have been completed, in autumn the winning project will be approved by the City Council of Rome. The objective is to entrust Adat Studio with the creation of the definitive project by the end of the year in order to be able to call the services conference by summer 2024 and, upon completion, proceed with the assignment of the executive project and the launching of the tender. If all deadlines are respected, the works can begin by 2025.
