«We are pleased to host this exhibition in the centenary of Teti, the company that dealt with telephony in Pisa - Said Councillor for Culture Filippo Bedini -. As we know, the development of telephony and communications has had an incredible acceleration in recent decades, with the advent of mobile telephony first and smartphones later. An evolution that as we know is not all roses and flowers, but can also produce negative effects, such as the risk of addiction in particular on our young people, who often end up making distorted use of the telephone. Retracing, with nostalgia for those with white hair, and with curiosity for those who did not live through that period, the fascinating era of the pay phone is a fun and also educational experience. I hope that the exhibition, which displays many curious and interesting objects, precursors of that object that we all have in our pockets today, will be visited especially by the younger generations».

«I thank the Municipality for the attention given to our initiative – he said the curator of the exhibition Marcello Cecconi -. I hope that during the week I will be able to bring the kids and schools there to explain to them what the ancestors of their current cell phones were.».

The Teti Company It was founded on 16 October 1924 in Livorno and then established its headquarters in Florence. The company was one of five to be entrusted with the national telephone service in the year 1925, the year of the "great reform" with which the telephone service was granted in concession. The national territory, in fact, had been divided into five zones entrusted to as many companies.

The Teti company was entrusted with the fourth zone (Liguria, Tuscany, Lazio and Sardinia). On display are many unpublished documents and material from 1925 to 1964, when SIP (Italian Telephone Company) was finally established at a national level, incorporating all five telephone companies.
