In Padua, institutions, schools and local entities collaborate to enhance afternoon services, creating an integrated educational network for the benefit of the community.

Padua, District 2 North: Memorandum of Understanding for the Education of Minors signed.

It was signed on Monday 28 October at the CAT Jump, in via Pierobon 19/B, in Arcella, the “Educational Memorandum of Understanding of the 2nd North District”: a formal act that photographs the culminating moment of the long journey, which began in 2023, which saw a large activation and participation of the educational community.

Professionals, teachers, associations, parishes and services, all gathered around a common question: How can we network to give strength and impetus to the neighborhood's educational initiatives?

The Protocol represents the outcome of a process promoted by the Territorial Animation Centers (CAT), meeting spaces for boys and girls offered by the Social Services Sector of the Municipality of Padua; through the coordination of the Territorial Educational Workshops, the CAT educator contacted and involved all the organizations that offer afternoon educational activities aimed at minors in District 2.

It was not surprising for the great response received, Arcella and Pontevigodarzere in fact have an enviable social heritage: from parish after-school programs, managed independently with their own volunteers or with the support of some organizations such as Caritas and San Vincenzo de Paoli, to CAT GIG and Jump, to historic associations such as Amici dei Popoli and Comunità Sant'Egidio with the Scuola della Pace, but also social cooperatives such as Gea and associations such as Domna and the Polisportiva San Precario.

All these entities, under the coordination of the CATs and supported by the Prisma Service, have become active and networked with the municipal institutions: Social Services, School Services and Briosco and Donatello Comprehensive Institutes. Many hands in the dough to give life to a protocol that would put order to the proposals of the neighborhood, collecting numbers, days, times and types of services, with the aim of harmonizing and creating new educational alliances. Alliances that could not ignore the involvement of schools, primary context of socialization with which to open and consolidate bridges for a single objective: that of building an educational community that takes care of minors in an integrated way, in dialogue with institutions and families.

Now there is a protocol that establishes all this, an open, participatory and flexible protocol, designed to adapt to the different needs of the territory and its components, which will allow us to collect good practices, identify emerging needs, share analyses and thoughts, and systematize resources and information.

There was such a need for this container of comparison that the participants wanted to concretize much of what the protocol was going to prefigure. Among all, the most significant experience was a training course aimed at educators, both volunteers and non-volunteers, held between April and May by Nicola Andrian, a training pedagogue hired by Enars and LUCE, a project coordinated by the Kalétheia Association, which is also an integral part of the working group.
