Museums, the number of cultural places in Emilia-Romagna accredited to the National Museum System rises to 123: recognition of 7 new museums.

Bologna – The Emilia-Romagna Region accredits seven new museums of its territory to National Museum System.

Among the 18 applications received, in the list approved by the Regional Council following evaluation by the internal commission of the Cultural Heritage Sector, the new entries recognized for the quality of the standards are: The Asp Picture Gallery in Bologna, the MAF-Mondo Agricolo Ferrarese in Ferrara, the “Carlo Venturini” Cultural Center in Massalombarda (Ra), the Gonzaga Civic Museum in Novellara (Re), the Butterfly House in Cervia (Ra), the Queen's Museum of Cattolica (Rn), the Municipal Paleontological Museum in Mondaino (Rn).

A path that requires each structure to adapt to a series of standards that measure improvement objectives in three relevant areas: organisation, collections, communication and relations with the territory.

seven museums are added to the 116 already recognized during the process launched in 2021 by the Region in coordination with the Ministry of Culture.

The newly accredited are witnesses of a rich and differentiated regional system, both in size and in type and geographical location: there are various museums owned by the municipality such as the Gonzaga Civic Museum of Novellara, housed in the sixteenth-century rooms of the Rocca dei Gonzaga, with historical-artistic testimonies linked to the history of the noble house; The “Venturini” Cultural Center, in Massalombarda, an emblematic example of antiquarian collecting in the late nineteenth century; The Queen's Museum on the history of the Cattolica area, between archeology and traditional seafaring; The Mondaino Paleontological Museum, set up in the Rocca Malatestiana with local fossil finds dating back to the Miocene era.

La Butterfly House of Cervia is a theme park to discover biodiversity, while the museum of the Ferrarese Agricultural World, which collects testimonies on life and work in the countryside from the end of the nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth century. Bologna adds to its accredited museums The ASP Picture Gallery, in the historical setting of Palazzo Rossi Poggi Marsili, which presents paintings by predominantly Bolognese masters, from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, belonging to the heritage of the ancient charitable works.
