Mondolfo: “TRAMANTICI Accordion Festival” from 19th to 25th August under the artistic direction of Roberto Lucanero.

From the 19 25 August The Municipality of Mondolfo is the new protagonist of '50×50: Capitals squared', the symbolic project of Pesaro 2024 which sees the fifty Municipalities of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, in turn, as Capital for a week throughout 2024. The week coincides with the second edition of TRAMANTICI Accordion Festival, a one-of-a-kind event celebrating the accordion and all bellows instruments and which this year – on the occasion of Pesaro 2024 – extends over several days full of music and stories, offering an exceptional program desired by the Municipal Administration under the guidance of artistic direction by Roberto Lucanero with the executive organization of DMP Concept/Senigallia and the support of the Carifano Foundation.

The Tramantici Festival was born from the awareness of the rich musical tradition of the Marche, a region renowned for the production of high quality musical instruments and for the talent of its musicians, which gave birth to famous accordion virtuosos such as Gervasio Marcosignori di Castelfidardo, and continues to be a center of musical excellence with internationally renowned artists such as Daniele Di Bonaventura and Claudio Jacoucci. One of the peculiarities of the Festival is the opening of the program with an artist from the Marche, a tribute to the local musical tradition and an incentive for young talents. This year, the festival will be opened by the talented local accordionist Giacomo Rotatori accompanied by the voice of Sara Jane Ghiotti, followed by a calendar full of performances by renowned artists such as Triosfere, Ethnic Project Duo of Danilo Di Paolonicola and Flavio Boltro, Osteria del Mandolino, Riccardo Tesi Elastic Trio, Claudio Prima & Seme, and Roberto Lucanero with an exciting performance at dawn for the closing greeting of the festival. The festival is deeply rooted in the Mondolfo area, once a thriving center for the production of accordions and accordions. Even if today the factories no longer exist, Tramantici rediscovers and shares this precious heritage with the new generations, keeping the connection with music and its artisanal production alive.

Mondolfo week with its festival represents an important occasion not only for the Pesaro 2024 program but also for the musical summer of our province: this is what Daniele Vimini, deputy mayor and councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Pesaro, said. An event built around an instrument like the accordion that has a long production tradition in our province and in the Marche region in general and that has set an international example, therefore an instrument that is a symbol of our culture. Thanks to Mondolfo for the passion and quality of this week also because initiatives specifically dedicated to this instrument were missing. At the end of the project we will have to find a way to keep together all this work done for 50×50 to be used for the race of Pesaro and Urbino European Capital of Culture 2033 but also because it is a method that has proven to be perfect for giving visibility to a heritage that cannot be lost.

Our goal is to create an unforgettable musical experience, enhancing tradition and innovation in the field of bellows instruments: these the words of Roberto Lucanero, artistic director of the festival. Tramantici, or between - bellows, is in fact a festival where you find yourself among the different types of bellows instruments, not just among the accordions. Even in this case the words and names are not chosen at random! One of the main characteristics of Tramantici is precisely this: the plurality of bellows instruments used by artists during concerts. The first edition of 2023 already welcomed piano accordions, button accordions, various types of accordions and also the portative organ, used mostly in the Middle Ages and very important in the history of Marche music thanks to the use made of it, among and popular, until the Renaissance as evidenced by iconography (Gentile da Fabriano, Giovanni Santi, Raphael, etc.) and popular poetry (Gaugello Gaugelli della Pergola). In addition to these instruments, the 2024 edition will also see the presence of the bandoneon, characteristic of Argentine tango, instrument of the accordion family, which, like accordions, also have the free reed as the principle of sound emission. This year the festival is enriched with prominent international guests and extraordinary local artists, with the aim of making our beloved accordion resonate through the streets and squares of Mondolfo and Marotta. It is an invitation to everyone to participate and be carried away by the magical notes that will characterize these August evenings.

Every day from 17.30pm to 19.30pm at the “Le 11 Eroine” Gardens in Marotta, the extraordinary mosaic artists of the “Mosariamo la città” Association will guide citizens and tourists in the creation of a mosaic, approximately 14 meters long, dedicated to Tramantici. The work will be installed on the walls of the now well-known "Lungomare dei Mosaici".
