Milano 2024 is alive: the call to participate in next season's show schedule is online

It's back again this year."Milano It's Alive in the Neighborhoods“, the project financed by the Ministry of Culture and implemented and coordinated by the Municipality of Milano – Culture to support and promote live entertainment activities in less central areas of metropolitan cities.

This year the MIC financing amounts to 1.147.927,80 euros and will be used to provide financial support for the creation of live entertainment events and initiatives that will take place in the period included between 21 June and 31 October 2024.
The projects will be selected through a public tender procedure by a special commission, based on criteria indicated in the announcement: among these, the prevalence of events scheduled beyond the 90/91 external ring road, the attention to the involvement of unconventional spaces, the educational scope of the project, the presence of workshops dedicated to the performing arts.

"Even this year Milano will light up in all neighborhoods with festivals and live entertainment initiatives – says Culture Councilor Tommaso Sacchi –. The selection of projects will be aimed at guaranteeing the most homogeneous and widest possible coverage of the municipal territory, in order to promote not only the cultural, but also the social and economic vitality of all the neighborhoods. But not only that: thanks to the funds made available by the Ministry of Culture, Milano è Viva financially supports the live entertainment sector, thus achieving the double objective of animating the cultural life of the neighborhoods and supporting the network of city operators, even the smallest ones, thus strengthening the cultural production structure throughout the city".

The participating subjects – all organizations financed under the MIC National Entertainment Fund and those operating in the sector for at least three years are eligible – will be able to access both sections provided for in the announcement (but, in case of selection, they will only be able to access contributions for one of these).

La section A concerns theatre, music, dance, circus art and multidisciplinary festivals which must involve at least three neighborhoods of the same municipality with the provision of events, workshops and presentations. For each of the eight selected projects - one for each municipality, from 2 to 9 - a fixed contribution of 80 thousand euros will be paid to support the costs of creating the festival, the value of which must be equal to or greater than 100 thousand euros.

Section B, however, concerns widespread events and is divided into two value bands:

1) Projects by value between 18.750 and 24.999 euros, to whom a variable contribution from 15.000 to 20.000 euros may be assigned;
2) Projects by value between 25 thousand and 40 thousand euros, to whom a variable contribution of between 20 thousand and 32 thousand euros may be assigned. For projects with a value exceeding 40.000 euros, the contribution will in any case not exceed 32 thousand euros.

The contribution paid cannot in any case exceed 80% of the value of the project, nor generate a profit greater than that necessary to break even.

Requests for contributions must be submitted exclusively in this way online by 12pm on 29 April 2024.

Participation in the notice does not preclude the possibility of participating, in 2024, in other calls for grants for the granting of contributions by the Culture Directorate.
