Milano to read: a selection of free ebooks to discover and rediscover the city.

It starts again”Milano to read", the eighth edition of the initiative conceived by the library system of Milano for promote reading through one selection of digital books downloadable for free from place of the municipality of Milano.

This year the review invite stroll around Milano accompanied by poets and writers who have lived and told it, crossing the city from the center to the neighborhoods, discovering its current face and the memory that has been stratified in the places.

I titles they are usable for free thanks to participation of authors and publishers that they put to arrangement of the works. The download will also be possible from posters and screens around the city. Thanks to ATM SpA, which confirms itself as the technical partner of the initiative, “Milano must read” will be widespread on the metro network and surface vehicles to increasingly intercept male and female readers in their daily journeys.

The 2023 edition resumes the formula inaugurated last season: i ebook they will come out at a distance of three weeks apart, and every ebook will remain available for 30 days, "passing the baton"The following. From Stendhal to Savinio, the voice of illustrious predecessors in the story of Milano it joins the author's flâneur wanderings through a city that turns out to be full of surprises and unexpected beauties.

La frenzy, which would be synonymous with Milano, retreats before the immobility of the statues. This is it narrative inspiration chosen by Giuseppe Cozzi and Pino Landonio with “Ago for monuments” (Meravigli editions): that of the over one hundred and forty statues that adorn the parks and squares of the city. The authors go to awaken them one by one, gaining stories, memories and curiosities.

La walk that it offers us Stefano Bartezzaghi in "M. A metronovela” (Einaudi) is punctuated by the subway stops. Different styles and approaches compose a sentimental portrait of Milano from Porta Venezia and Porta Vittoria, to Sarpi, Isola, Casoretto, Lorenteggio, Qt8, Bovisa.

Also short stories of "Milano author” (Morellini) find setting in the neighborhoods of Milano, between real and imagined itineraries. Everyone does story in itself and together they restore a multi-dimensional city, which reveals the multiple identities of the neighborhoods, their characteristic features still recognisable, or perhaps destined to be lost, in the transformations of a city in constant change.

A selection taken from “Milano in 10 walks"of Andrea Kerbaker (Rizzoli) and others reading suggestions, available in libraries in paper and digital format, they will close the review and open up to new explorations, because this edition of “Milano to read” is also a prelude to the digital platform “LET-MI. Literature Tourist Experience a Milano" that within the end of year will allow travel through our city guided by its history and literary identity: the project, financed by the Ministry of Tourism, rewards the participation of Milano since 2017, the only one in Italy, to the network of UNESCO Creative Cities of Literature.
