Mesagne: the "7 centuries of Italian art" exhibition set up at the castle. there are 51 original works.

The beauty annihilates the sultry heat and there are already over two thousand visitors to the «G7, seven centuries of Italian art» exhibition, set up in the noble halls of the castle of Mesagne (Brindisi) for the care of the prof. Pierluigi Carofano and organized – within the framework of the Intera Puglia Walking Art Protocol – by Micexperience Rete d'Imprese, with promoting bodies the Municipality of Mesagne and the Puglia Region, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and with an agreement just signed with Aeroporti di Puglia, thanks to which a special discount is granted on the entry of travellers to and from the Apulian airports.

«The flattering comments expressed by visitors say that the 52nd work of art has been created: that of bringing together in a single cultural container 51 original works of undoubted appeal, making the Mesagne event a "unique" event ever held in Southern Italy", commented the president of Micexperience Rete d'Imprese, Pierangelo Argentieri. «From the phone calls received by the secretariat for groups of visitors and reservations, considerable enthusiasm can be seen – added Argentieri – and it is strange that some ask about individual works, especially Leonardo, Raphael, Canova and Burri, as well as free collective guide experiences included in the price of the ticket which is reserved for Sunday afternoon».

And on Sunday, staying on topic, we will focus on a detail noticed by some guides during the exhibitions: the "game" between some visitors in recognizing what in technical language are defined as iconographic attributes, that is - say the scholars - "the identifying elements of the various sacred figures from clothing to facial features, from objects held in the hand to animals that accompany the painted subjects". «Have we heard a father explain to his teenage son: “This is Saint Peter and you can recognize him by the keys that he holds in his hands; this other one is Saint Paul holding the sword..." - says Argentieri again -. They were in front of the “Madonna Enthroned with Child, Angels and Saints” by Sano di Pietro, kept in the National Art Gallery of Siena».

«In the free guided tours on Sunday 28 July we will also propose this "game" of recognizing the protagonists of some of the works on display through iconographic attributes - they explain from the organization –. Obviously we will start from Sano di Pietro – they add – but, without giving anything away, we could look for, for example, of a “hidden” Michelangelo Buonarroti…». Also this Sunday, therefore, and with this peculiarity, guided tours included in the entrance ticket with appointments (maximum capacity 30 people) at 19,00 pm and 20,30 pm.
