Latina, at Teatro D'Annunzio with more than 3 thousand attendances the season ticket theatre season ends.
With the show "The Jekyll Case" staged at the D'Annunzio theater on Sunday 5 May, the 2023-2024 subscription theater season closed, organized by the municipal administration and the Atcl, a multidisciplinary circuit of Lazio supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Lazio Region. Three events remain scheduled, outside of the season ticket: two appointments with Edoardo Leo who brings “Ti racconto una storia” to the stage on May 10 and May 29 and a show with Francesco Chicchella, “Bis!”, scheduled for May 18.
"The first theater season after seven years of hiatus – declares Matilde Celentano, Mayor of Latina – has given the city a cultural renaissance that has been missing for some time. The numbers for the theater season are a positive sign: 162 season tickets, 2051 tickets sold and 3347 total attendances. A program that fascinated the public, designed to involve a different target of people: from challenging prose to brilliant comedy, through the crime genre and popular theatre. The season opened on the last day of November with "Life in front of itself", with Silvio Orlando, and involved the public for six months with eight shows, providing emotions and, above all, transforming the theater back into the heart of city. A sign of a successful bet, of a choice that was able to intercept the public's expectations with excellent results. Our administration struggled a lot to find the necessary resources, but immediately wanted to organize the program to create a subscription season that was up to par, which the citizens were missing. The eight shows staged were a moment of meeting and sharing, which I personally wanted to bet on and which I followed, show after show, with particular interest. I thank the Atcl for what it has done so far: we are already working to organize the theater season for next year".
"Reclaiming a theater is always a great emotion, a return to a place steeped in stories, emotions and memories that are the beating heart of a community - says Isabella Di Cola, artistic director -. As Paolo Grassi argued, theater is a right and a duty for everyone, an essential element for the life of the city which in turn needs the vital energy of its citizens. The first subscription season of the D'Annunzio theater, after its reopening, was conceived in a virtuous collaboration with the mayor Celentano, with the aim of celebrating artistic excellence and the plurality of expressive codes. The result was welcomed and participated in with great enthusiasm by the public, who evidently recognized and appreciated the shared commitment of the Municipality and ATCL. But the surprises do not end here: we are already working to plan the next season, which promises to leave an even deeper mark on the cultural life of the city of Latina and in the hearts of its spectators".
