Grosseto, new project to spread scientific knowledge

10th November

Grosseto, new project to spread scientific knowledge.

Developing and strengthening knowledge of scientific knowledge, thanks to the fruitful collaboration between educational institutions and municipal administration, through an innovative multidisciplinary approach: this is the main idea underlying the project entitled "Infinitely large, infinitely small".
The initiative is based on a specific memorandum of understanding signed by the Grosseto University Center Foundation, the Municipality and the Grosseto 2 Comprehensive Institute. In particular, it is a pilot project which will last three years and will involve students in the third year of primary school and students in a first year of secondary school, with the aim of encouraging the acquisition of scientific knowledge not only through laboratory and experiential teaching but also thanks to a true organic integration of a humanistic nature.
"Our shared goal - explain the mayor of Grosseto Antonfrancesco Vivarelli Colonna and the councilor for education Angela Amante - is to try to overcome as much as possible the purely notional approach which too often seems to 'block' the interest of young students. Instead, we believe in an interdisciplinary system which, starting from the particular and arriving at the universal, touches on scientific, humanistic, historical and philosophical themes of human nature. Doing science through observation, the dynamic sharing of ideas and hypotheses, the development of a critical sense. A journey that, from the examination of a cell to the investigation of the universe, will accompany the growth of the children. Thank you with all my heart - conclude - to Grosseto University Foundation andGrosseto 2 Comprehensive Institute for having, together, activated and promoted this initiative".
"La Grosseto University Center Foundation believes strongly in the project “Infinitely large, infinitely small" - explains President Gabriella Papponi Morelli - and our hope is that the interdisciplinary approach to science, philosophy and the arts it represents is the beginning of a path from which not only Grosseto students can benefit for their academic and professional careers, but also, to waterfall, the entire territory. Moreover, our time requires preparation that integrates knowledge: with this in mind the memorandum of understanding with the City of Grosseto andGrosseto 2 Comprehensive Institute, aimed at preparing new generations for the important cultural challenges that await us. The University Centre is ready to inaugurate with this initiative the Center of Science and Technology, a center for scientific experimentation and dissemination born from the project of Ministry of Education, University and Research which will be available to all citizens interested in science".
"The Grosseto Comprehensive Institute 2 - says the school director Maria Teresa Sartiani - is ready to be an integral part of this innovative and engaging initiative. The students of the classes that participate in the project will therefore be able to experiment with sharing and learning methods that are increasingly integrated with each other, creating the foundations for a harmonious development of interests and skills".
