Emilia-Romagna Music Commission: international events and upcoming initiatives

The model is strengthened Music Commission regional, after the first years of activity, and for the future we are aiming at internationalization as a great opportunity for visibility for the Emilia-Romagna music system.

The next international events for the promotion of original live contemporary music projects and the projects for their production and enjoyment, carried out with the support of the regional law on the development of the music sector, were presented this morning in the Region by the regional councillor for Culture and Landscape, Mauro Felicori.

Among the first events, the one that will be held in'December 11th a Bologna when, to amplify the opportunities for visibility abroad and for comparison between professionals, companies, circuits and European institutions, Emilia-Romagna Music Commission e Music Innovation Hub will launch a new format, “Line Check Pop Up“, in collaboration with the Municipality of Bologna – Bologna City of Music UNESCO, the Department of Arts of the University of Bologna and YoungER Card.

European and national professionals representing the most prestigious music conferences, festivals and booking agencies are invited to the UNESCO City of Music to meet their regional counterparts for a discussion on the topics of production, distribution and promotion in the two panels, “Amplifying Local Talent: innovative production models"and "Amplifying Local Talent: Distribution, Live Circuiting, and Artist Promotion“. The meetings will take place starting by 17 both at Farnese Chapel of Palazzo D'Accursio.

In the evening there will be space for showcases, at the Locomotive Club of Bologna, with performances by artists selected by Eurosonic 2025 – España Circo Este, James Jonathan Clancy, RYF – and Godblesscomputers, recent protagonist at Womex in Manchester (23-26 October 2024), the most relevant platform for international world music, further testimony to the quality and appeal of our region's musical production.

It will be possible to participate in the evening, free entry, by registering through the platform DICE.

2025 also starts with a great opportunity for visibility for the Emilia-Romagna music system. Ice, the Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies, organizes the collective Italian participation in ESNS – EUROSONIC NOORDERSLAG 2025, which will take place at Groningen (Netherlands), 15 from January to 18 2025 and which, for this edition, has designated Italy as Focus Country.

Being Focus Country at the most important European event dedicated to the music business and the scouting of emerging artists represents a great opportunity for the promotion of the Italian music industry as a whole and means having a rich program of panels and dedicated meetings and also a more accurate selection of musicians for the evening performances.

Representing Emilia-Romagna in 2025, in addition to a large delegation of professionals, there will be: Daniela Pes, nominated for the Music Moves Europe Awards as best emerging artist, James Jonathan Clancy, RYF and Spain Circus East.

They are all artists who participate in projects supported under the call for the production and enjoyment of live contemporary music of the regional law for the development of the music sector and that Emilia-Romagna Music Commission supports as part of its promotion and communication activities.
