Remembrance Day, Bonessio-Luparelli (AVS): soon Rome will also have the Monument to the victims of the forgotten massacres

Useful tools to raise citizen awareness

Remembrance Day, Bonessio-Luparelli (AVS): soon Rome will also have the Monument to the victims of the forgotten massacres.

“We publicly thank the Councilor for Culture Miguel Gotor who, once again demonstrating great attention and sensitivity towards the theme of historical memory, gave a mandate to the Capitoline Superintendency and the Cultural Centers Library System Institution to initiate all the procedures so that in Rome can create the monument to the victims of the forgotten massacres in via degli Zingari, the heart of the Monti district. With the approval in the Giulio Cesare chamber last January of the motion signed by the Capitoline Greens-Left Alliance, in fact, we asked the competent legislative bodies not only to extend the anniversary of Remembrance Day to all the victims of the forgotten massacres but also to work to build a monument dedicated to the memory of the victims of the forgotten exterminations as other cities around the world have already done".

“And so as not to forget the extermination and persecution against the Jewish people, political deportees and, in Italy alone, approximately twenty-three thousand Roma, Sinti and Lalleri, disabled people, homosexuals, political and religious opponents deported and exterminated in Auschwitz, and in order to fully implement our motion, every library in the area will equip itself with useful tools to raise citizens' awareness and continue to keep attention high on this sad and dramatic chapter in our history. To never forget"

Thus, in a note, the councilors of the Capitoline Greens-Left Alliance Ferdinando Bonessio and Alessandro Luparelli.
