Treviso: first city in Veneto for administrative efficiency among ordinary regime cities
An acknowledgement to the city of Treviso that strengthens the path towards autonomy of Veneto, with the public administration among the most efficient in Italy.
"The latest study by CGIA of Mestre, which analyses the impact of public administration on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), certifies that public administration in Veneto is among the most efficient in Italy, with Treviso in first place for the effectiveness of services among cities in regions with an ordinary regime, and in third place overall behind Trento and Trieste. This result represents further recognition of the efforts to guarantee Veneto citizens an extremely efficient and attentive local administration. Other Veneto cities, such as Venice and Vicenza, also appear in the top positions of the CGIA ranking at a national level. Although they do not enjoy a special statute, our territories demonstrate that they compete at the top of administrative efficiency,He declares the President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia.
"Autonomy, now law, offers the opportunity to further strengthen local management, ensuring greater control over spending and pragmatic tools to respond promptly to the needs of citizens and businesses. It is necessary to bring our administrative standards closer to the best European levels, but it should be remembered that the excessive centralism of recent decades has generated unnecessary complications and an increase in bureaucracy, often slowing down the efficiency of public administration as well. In Veneto, careful financial management of public administration is no longer an added value, but a fundamental requirement for those who administer local authorities. With over 500 municipalities, none of which are in financial distress and all with balance sheets in order, our region stands out for administrative responsibility, with a per capita public expenditure of approximately 11.770 euros, lower than the national average of 12.696 euros and equal to 35,7% of the regional GDP, well below the national average of 43,3%".
"It should also be highlighted,” continues Zaia, "that Veneto, with 5,5 public employees per 10.000 inhabitants, has one of the lowest ratios at the national level, compared to an Italian average of 7,4 employees. With autonomy, we will be able to accelerate further, raising the level of social initiatives and public services, thus being able to demonstrate the efficiency that our territory is able to generate even with fewer resources. Autonomy will be an essential tool to consolidate these results, as well illustrated by the CGIA analysis, ensuring an increasingly efficient public administration, capable of responding to the needs of citizens and businesses and supporting the development of the territory,” ends the President Zaia.
