Campobasso, the anthropological and ethnomusical review "The sounds and the bone" is coming soon.
The Municipality of Campobasso, through theDepartment of CultureIn partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Central Institute for Intangible Heritage and the State Archives of Campobasso, the University of Molise - BIOCULT Research Center and the Municipal Library and Media Library of Campobasso, starting from the next February 2nd and until April 19th, proposes the review “The sounds and the bone”, composed of five meetings with a strong ethnoanthropological and ethnomusical interest.
We will leave next Thursday 2 February, at 17.30 pm, with the appointment with Antonio Di Cintio and his text “The gentle poet. Celestino Ciaralli and Amatrice's off-the-cuff singing”, Morlacchi publisher. The work contains the story of the poet Celestino Ciaralli (1919), still recognized today as one of the most talented and representative singers and masters of poetic improvisation of his generation. By retracing his life and his artistic production, we rediscover anecdotes of the history of Amatrice and its very rich cultural heritage, of which improvised singing - performed alone or with the accompaniment of bagpipes - represents one of the most fascinating and archaic aspects, closely linked to the millenary pastoral and transhumant tradition ofCentral Apennines. Not surprisingly, since its inception in fourteenth century, eighth rhyme represented one of the most sincere and representative expressions of Italian poetry, both cultured and popular, a phenomenon that over time was able to fascinate many great names of our culture, from Alessandro Manzoni a Benedetto Croce, up to the most recent ones Aldo Fabrizi, Francesco Guccini e Roberto Benign. Speakers at the meeting will include Professor Letizia Bindi, anthropologist and Director of the BIOCULT Center at the University of Molise; Vincenzo Lombardi, ethnomusicologist and Director of the State Archives of Campobasso. The journalist Susanna Buffa will act as moderator of this inaugural evening of the entire "The sounds and the bone" cycle.
The other events of the review “Sounds and the bone” they will be, in February, Thursday 23rd, at 17.30 pm at the Circolo Sannitico, with Vincenzo Lombardi and his text “The 'La Lapa' collection. Traditional music from Molise recorded by Alberto M. Cirese”, edition by Macchiamara; on March 16, with Letizia Bindi and the video documentary “Rutas PatagonAppenninicas / Vie PatagonAppenniniche (20'39, 2021), “Costantino Nigra” Cultural Anthropology Award for the category Visual anthropology; on March 30th with Giovanni Carozza, when we will talk about "Music and singing practices in Gambatesa between intergenerational transmission of knowledge and digitalisation of ethnomusical heritage". The 19 April, the review will end with the meeting which will have as its theme the text by Stephen C. Cappannari and Leonard W. Moss “Anthropological studies in Molise. Bagnoli del Trigno 1954-1969” edited by Gino Massullo.
