The goal for the future is to become the Capital of Accessibility, because it will also mean being more competitive from the point of view of quality of life and hospitality. There is a lot of work to do, but the path is the right one».

Taking inspiration from the approval of PEBA, the Plan for the elimination of architectural barriers of the Municipality of Pesaro (which the City Council approved unanimously last month), Perugini added: «It is a path of which I am very proud, which saw us all as protagonists and which began with the first edition of the General States of Accessibility, a moment of sharing, proposals, which involved associations, professionals, businesses, institutions and citizens who, now with fixed frequency, meets once a year to discuss an urgent and transversal topic: inclusion. There are many initiatives underway, and together we are trying above all to build awareness. Awareness of the fact that there are many things to do - the PEBA indicates 60 million euros of public works necessary to break down the barriers in our territory - and that everyone will have to do their part, starting from everyday life». Perugini then underlined the focus of the 2024 edition of the States, who are "Thanks to the contribution of authoritative speakers and successful experiences, we will try to delve deeper into the problems related to accessibility in the culture sector. We do it today, in this extraordinary year of the Italian capital, a recognition that we hope will be a starting point and moment of reflection also for the cities that will follow us».

Among the protagonists of the morning, the Guarantor for the rights of people with disabilities Maruska Palazzi: "The conclusion of my term is marked by a great achievement, the approval of the city's PEBA; it was the most stringent request that had been addressed to me as Guarantor. Together with Perugini we managed to present the Plan, which is a fundamental starting point for activating inclusive policies and projects that will require years of work and many resources, as well as the awareness of a shared responsibility on the topic». Palazzi added that the PEBA editorial team, «It has put into circulation in the city a very important reflection on affordances, which are the motor ones - which we all encounter sooner or later in life - the sensorial ones, the communicative-relational ones. And this is the best result we could have achieved." Then there is the current affairs linked to the year of Pesaro 2024, «The work carried out during the last edition of the States General, together with the citizens present at the dedicated table, made it possible to create the Accessibility Charter of Pesaro 2024, a guide practice to guarantee it in the projects being developed this year and all the Municipalities of the province, involved through the '50×50 Capitals squared' initiative. A good practice 'spread' across the territory that will enrich it forever, and of which we are proud».
