Since December 1 2022
Lucignano (Arezzo), the municipal library reopens.
Since last December 1st the municipal library of Lucignano, in collaboration with the volunteers of the local Pro Loco. After a two-year stop due to the epidemiological emergency, the library is back to life with many activities aimed at both children and adults.
Satisfaction and gratitude was expressed by themunicipal administration, by the Mayor Roberta Casini and by 'culture councilor Serena Gialli"A recovery that has a profound social as well as cultural significance. When a group of people make themselves available for dedicating yourself to the res public, to the common good, in a completely voluntary way, this constitutes an added value for an entire community. Thanks go to the volunteers and the Pro Loco, to have pursued this aim. Our goal is to return the library, which is for excellence the place where culture is breathed and practiced, to the Lucignanosi and to all those who they will want to come and consult the manuals or do lending activities. Ample space will be dedicated to
boys and girls, in collaboration with the school and families".
The Lucignano library consists of around 7000 volumes, and in the pre-covid period it had managed to have a very high number of users and loans, over 500 per year.
The opening hours for book lending/consultation/reading/study will be Tuesday afternoons 16pm-18pm and Thursday mornings 10am-12pm. There is the possibility of using the free wi-fi connection.
And meetings with the authors are scheduled from January 2023."Readings in the village", which returns in the winter version, animated readings for children and families with a snack, as well as visits, loans, reading workshops on various genres (including fantasy and non-fiction), in collaboration with theComprehensive school "Rita Levi-Montalcini".
