Born from an idea from the Center for books and reading (an autonomous institute of the Ministry of Culture) of the ANCI, the initiative was developed to encourage reading especially among younger groups. For this reason the recognition, which consists of a contribution of 70.000 €, was awarded by the Ministry of Culture.
“In the range of cities with over 100.000 inhabitants we came third but the great satisfaction is having preceded places like Rome, Turin, Bari”.
“Biblio Goal! Reading to build a sustainable city" is the title of the project presented by the Department and the Culture and Entertainment Service of the Municipality of Cagliari which was considered among the 36 "exemplary" projects.
A leading the particular ranking is Pescara, with the Sardinian capital in second place and Reggio Emilia in third.
“A very prestigious result” added Councilor Picciau. “Because with these funds to which 20.000 euros will be added by the Administration, we will be able to create something inclusive, breaking down social barriers and promoting community cooperation. The central idea of the project is that of a public library that is more usable, innovative and redesigned with a new system".
