Crotone, Operation "Focus 'Ndrangheta": An illegal gaming hall and an irregular agro-industrial business are seized.

An important joint operation included in the national and transnational plan “Focus 'Ndrangheta”, prepared by the Police Chief of Crotone Renato Panvino and decided by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety chaired by the Prefect Franca Ferraro, affected the territory of Isola di Capo RizzutoThe intervention, coordinated by an official of the State Police, also involved Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, port authorities e labor Inspectorate, engaged in capillary checks on commercial businesses, people e vehicles along the main roads.

A 2.550 sq m agro-industrial company was seized.

During the checks, attention was drawn to aagro-industrial company, where the investigations led to the preventive seizure of the entire business, spread over approximately 2.550 square metersThe owner was reported to the Judicial Authority for unauthorized discharge of industrial wastewater and for building and environmental violations. The following were also seized:

• a dirt road internal,

• un dump of about two cubic meters,

• un drainage channel of rainwater.

Further checks at a transport company connected to the company led to the identification of a worker not regularly employedOnce the threshold of 10% of irregular workers was exceeded, the suspension of activity.

Seals on an illegal arcade and seizure of devices

During the same operation, the checks were extended to a betting shop without a nameThe owner and a second person were busy managing the sports betting, but the activity took place without authorization and through a unauthorized online gaming platform in ItalyThe search led to the seizure of:

• 8 game receipts,

• 3 computer used for collecting bets,

• 56,90 € considered to be the proceeds of the illegal activity.

The premises have been subjected to preventive seizure and the owner reported to the Judicial Authority for illegal gambling or betting, with the aggravating circumstance of relapse within five years.

The results of the operation

The entire control activity produced:

• 180 people identified (55 positive in the SDI database),

• 89 vehicles checked,

• 2 commercial activities seized,

• 2 sanctions to the Highway Code,

• 2 commercial establishments subjected to in-depth inspection.
