Rende, they attempted to blow up a building: a couple arrested for massacre and damage

In recent days i Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Rende Company they drew in two people arrested of flagrante delicto of the alleged crimes of massacre in concert and damage, as well as, for one of the two, also of the crime of persecutory acts.

La Public Prosecutor's Office of Cosenza, on the basis of the elements acquired (which need to be verified in the cross-examination with the defence), requested the validation of the arrest and the application of a personal precautionary measure. The GIP of the Court of Cosenza has therefore the arrest was validated and arranged the pre-trial detention in prison, considering the existence of the circumstantial gravity for the crimes charged.

In accordance to reconstructed from preliminary investigations, the couple would have attempted to cause the explosion of a building located near the historic center of Rende, saturating the environment with gas by means of a cylinder left with the open valve and then trying to trigger the explosion with a lighter. In addition to this, they would also have damaged a parked car. The timeliness and effectiveness of the intervention of the military personnel, combined with preventive reporting of a citizen, have a tragedy was averted that could have had serious consequences for the safety of residents.
