Lattarico (Cosenza), Off-duty Carabiniere Saves Child's Life
On the evening of December 12th, around 20pm, in Lattarico, while a Christmas bingo game was taking place at the Villetta Comunale, a three-year-old boy who was running and playing during the event suddenly felt ill and lost consciousness. At that moment, a Carabiniere from the Lattarico Station, off duty, was passing by in his private car and was alerted to the situation by some alarmed citizens present at the scene.
Immediately The soldier approached the mother who was holding the baby in her arms and, seeing that the baby was unconscious and not breathing, and also noticing a receding tongue, he took the child, placed him in a supine position and began to perform resuscitation maneuvers, for which he is qualified, until the baby, after a few minutes, reopened his eyes and started breathing again, albeit with difficulty, before having him assume the lateral safety position.
Immediately afterwards, the Carabiniere, on board his own car, took the child to a nearby doctor's office for an initial check-up and subsequently, by 118 ambulance, the child was taken to the Annunziata Hospital in Cosenza where he is currently being observed, his life not in danger. The timely intervention of the soldier averted the worst for the unfortunate little boy.
