Cosenza, State Police checks: couple arrested for possession of cocaine and gun cartridges

On October 30, State Police personnel carried out, as part of the extraordinary services ordered by the Police Chief of the Province of Cosenza, Dr. Giuseppe Cannizzaro and coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor's Office, several checks in the province, and in particular in the area of ​​the municipalities of the Esaro Valley.

During the said services, in a rural area of ​​the town of San Marco Argentano, a man and a woman were arrested by the police officers of the Flying Squad, with the collaboration of their colleagues from the Dog Unit of the Vibo Valentia Police Headquarters and the Northern Calabria Crime Prevention Unit.

In particular, on the morning in question the police went to the rural property, which was also the home of the people arrested today. During the operations, the woman who was out of the house, came home, and in front of the police, with the excuse of having an urgent need to get something, she rushed into the bathroom and came out immediately after, heading towards her car, trying to elude the control of the officers by saying that she had to hurry to work. The police, become suspicious from the woman's attitude, they asked her to show the contents of the bag she was carrying with her. And in fact, inside it the officers found a jar with inside 36 grams of cocaine-type narcotic substance, and the sum of over 2400 Euro divided into small denomination banknotes. The partner then returned home and together they proceeded to search the apartment and the property, at the end of which they found nr. 10 pistol cartridges, a precision electronic scale, as well as a further sum of almost 1200 €, divided into banknotes of various denominations.
