Cosenza: a man and a woman stalked by her ex-partner, a ban on approaching the offended persons is triggered.

The State Police personnel executed an Order for the application of a personal precautionary measure of prohibition of approach, with the application of an electronic bracelet, to a woman and her current husband.

The measure was carried out against her ex-partner, a 45-year-old man, and the ex-couple's 19-year-old son.

Both defendants are charged with the crime of aggravated injury, while the crime of stalking (art.612 Bis co 3 cp) was attributed to the former partner who, following the conflicts that arose over the management of the children, had begun to persecute and threaten the woman's current husband, to the point of attacking him on several occasions.

The measure comes at the conclusion of a rapid and intense investigative activity coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor's Office and initiated following the complaint filed by the injured parties.

The escalation of the behavior of the victim's ex-partner reached its peak a few days ago, when the latter, supported by his son, went to her workplace to once again attack the woman's current husband who was in turn pushed, insulted and threatened by both of them.

The police officers, specialized in dealing with crimes against people belonging to the category of the so-called vulnerable groups, collected the statements of the interested parties, acquiring the detailed descriptions of the various contested episodes necessary to substantiate the story of the offended persons.

The investigation activity, started by the Flying Squad personnel and coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Cosenza, found its epilogue in the execution of the precautionary measure, and confirms once again the commitment, the particular attention and sensitivity of the State Police, of the women and men of the Police Headquarters, directed by the Police Chief Cannizzaro, and of the Judicial Authority, in addressing with careful and timely intervention the phenomenon of gender violence and the protection of the so-called weak groups.

The two suspects will not be able to approach the places frequented by the injured parties, maintaining a distance of no less than 500 meters. They will also have to refrain from contacting them by any means.

All this is communicated in compliance with the rights of the suspect (to be considered presumed innocent in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings until a definitive finding of guilt with an irrevocable sentence) in order to guarantee the right to freedom of the press.
