Attempted extortion against a municipal official: a 66-year-old arrested in the province of Cosenza.

In the day of Thursday August 3, a precautionary measure of house arrest was carried out against a 66 year old subject, considered seriously suspected of attempted extortion put in place towards a municipal official who had been ordered, with serious threats, to withdraw the provision for the revocation of a state concession. The investigations of Police station of Corigliano-Rossano (CS), which began immediately after the complaint from the municipal employee, allowed the collection of multiple pieces of evidence against him which generated the issuance of the aforementioned precautionary measure. In particular, it is stated that, in the context of the activities to combat the phenomenon of illegal occupation of state land and the consequent absence of valid titles, ordered by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Castrovillari directed by the Chief Prosecutor Dr. Alessandro D'ALESSIO, since month of July 2022, various checks were carried out on the Ionian coast and in particular a decree of preventive seizure of a seaside resort which is located in the most central area of seafront of Rossano di Sant'Angelo.

The same bathhouse came later released from seizure and returned to the Municipality of Corigliano-Rossano in the person of the Mayor pt. Consequently, on 19 July approximately, the sector 11 public works office communicated to the interested parties the start of the procedure for the revocation of the two maritime state concessions. The investigation was carried out following the precise directives of the Prosecutor of the Republic of Castrovillari, Dr. Alessandro D'ALESSIO. Everything is communicated with respect for the suspect (to be considered presumed innocent in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings, which is still in the preliminary investigations, until a definitive finding of guilt with an irrevocable sentence) in order to guarantee the right to the press . It remains understood that the suspect will be able to provide his own version of the facts which will be subjected to careful and timely verification.
