Castrovillari: Extortion aggravated by mafia methods and purposes, 3 people arrested

In Castrovillari in Cassano All'Ionio, the personnel of the State Police and in particular of the Flying Squad of the Cosenza Police Headquarters, together with the personnel of the Judicial Police Squad of the Castrovillari Police Station, with the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office - District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Catanzaro, has executed the precautionary order, issued by the Preliminary Investigations Judge at the Court of Catanzaro, against 3 suspects, on the basis of the presumed existence of serious evidence relating to the crime of extortion – some of which remained at the attempted stage – aggravated by mafia methods and purposes. The provision, issued at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office - Catanzaro District Anti-Mafia Directorate - arises from the extensive investigative activity coordinated by the Catanzaro DDA and delegated to the Flying Squad of the Cosenza Police Headquarters and jointly with the judicial police teams of the Castrovillari Police Station.

The investigations were developed through a targeted and meticulous investigative activity consisting of technical activities, in the service on the territory of "field" checks; furthermore, thanks to the synergic work carried out by the District Attorney's Office and the State Police, this investigation is corroborated by the presence of statements from victims, who are comforted by the presence of the aforementioned institutions, they intended to file a complaint, a lawsuit and recognized the torturers by reporting them to the operators. In this context, the precautionary order against the suspects all drawn from the precautionary custody measure in prison, was considered to be of serious circumstantial evidence for multiple extortion incidents, aggravated by the mafia method and purpose, to the detriment of the owners of commercial establishments and business activities.
