In recent days, police of the State, through the coordination of the Central Operations Service (SCO), he carried out a large-scale operation of the police. The same was undertaken to combat criminal phenomena connected to the Chinese community present in Italy, with particular attention to crimes related to illegal immigration, the exploitation of prostitution and labor, the counterfeiting of products, the distribution of narcotics and the illegal possession of weapons.
The "high-impact" operation involved several Italian Flying Squads, including that of the Cosenza Police Headquarters. The Flying Squad investigators conducted thorough investigations that allowed them to identify the people and locations involved in illegal activities, particularly those related to prostitution and the management of commercial businesses run by Chinese nationals.
As previously announced, the tests, combined with information gathering activities, They confirmed that in the areas of the territory under the jurisdiction of the province of Brutia, for several years, prostitution has been carried out inside brothels or wellness centres, meetings which are often arranged through telephone numbers obtained, mostly, from online dating sites, including "Bakeca Incontri".
Precisely in light of what has been ascertained, with a view to combating criminal phenomena involving Chinese citizens, thanks to the targeted checks carried out in recent days, the following operating results were achieved:
- 2 people have been reported at liberty of the aforementioned nationality because they violated various criminal offences provided for by the Consolidated Law on Immigration, linked to the management of the migratory phenomenon, specifically with regard to their confirmed illegal presence within the national territory (pursuant to articles 10 bis and 14/5° ter of Legislative Decree no. 286/98).
- one of theseand was also accompanied by staff from the local Police Headquarters to the CPR (Repatriation Detention Centres) in Rome – Ponte Galeria, for the subsequent expulsion from Italian territory;
- 21 commercial establishments were checked coordinated by Chinese citizens;
- 51 people were identified, noting that they were all regularly residing in the national territory.
Finally, it should be noted that the described activity is part of the broader "Flying Squad" operational project, undertaken by the SCO starting in 2023, which has already been applied to other areas of crime prevention, including juvenile delinquency, labor exploitation, illegal gambling, prostitution, vehicle theft, and irregularities in entry procedures governed by the Immigration Flow Decree. These areas of crime will be the subject of future "high-impact" services in this city and its province.
