The State Police is intensifying controls across the province: expulsions, immediate repatriations, and detention in Detention and Repatriation Centers.

In the context of vast plan to intensify controls against illegal immigration started by Department of Public Safety, and arranged by Police Chief of Cosenza, Dr. Giuseppe Cannizzaro, the staff of local Immigration Office has implemented controls on the regularity status of foreign citizens present in the provincial territory.
From targeted and stringent checks carried out on a large number of foreign citizens have emerged numerous situations of irregularity. Since the beginning of August, 18 measures have been issued, in particular:

6 expulsions with direct escort to the Rome Fiumicino border e immediate repatriation in the countries of origin;

8 detentions at the Detention and Repatriation Centres (CPR);

4 Orders of the Police Commissioner to leave the national territory within 7 days.
Among the recipients of the measures also a foreigner convicted of international terrorism crimes. The verification operations of the Immigration Office staff, aimed at tracking down citizens without regular residence permits, will continue without interruption also in the coming weeks.
