Cosenza: arrested red-handed by Flying Squad Agents for car theft.

The personnel serving at the Office of General Prevention and Public Aid of this Police Headquarters, directed by the Police Commissioner of the province of Cosenza, Dr. Giuseppe Cannizzaro, arrested a 27-year-old man red-handed for the crime of aggravated theft.

Following a report of the theft in progress of a car via the “youpol” application, a practical and immediate system of communication between citizens and the State Police to prevent and combat any form of crime in general, the Flying Squad officers promptly intervened on site and managed to intercept the car in question, driven by

a man who, at the sight of the operators, increased his speed with the clear intent of covering his tracks. After a brief chase, the State Police officers managed to stop the car.

The individual then decided to leave the vehicle, with the engine still running, and while suddenly fleeing, dropped a large flat-head screwdriver on the ground.

The same, then, attempted to hide in a building located a little further ahead but was reached and blocked. The offender, already known to these offices for specific crimes, was arrested in flagrante delicto and, by order of the Public Prosecutor on duty, was first subjected to the measure of house arrest pending trial and, following a hearing to validate the arrest, subjected to the obligation to report to the Judicial Police.
