Arrested with hashish near Rossano prison: young woman stopped before an interview with an inmate

During the day yesterday, March 11, 2025, the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section from the Territorial Department of Corigliano Rossano, with the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Castrovillari, directed by Chief Prosecutor Alessandro D'Alessio, carried out the'arrest of a local girl, seriously suspected of the crime of "possession of narcotic substance with intent to supply", aggravated because contested near a penitentiary institution.

A normal road traffic control, carried out by the military of the Radiomobile Section near the Rossano prison, allowed to repress what appeared to be a potentially illicit activity relating to the sale of narcotic substances. The occupants of the checked vehicle admitted that they were about to enter the prison to visit a relative of theirs who was in prison, but their attitude appeared particularly shy and, above all, characterized by an unusual nervousness. Reason that has induced the operators to deepen the control, so much so that in the vehicle the personal effects that were to be delivered to the detained subject during the interview were found.

The subsequent search activities carried out on the people then allowed us to recover a package containing approximately 20 grams of a narcotic substance of the "Hashish" type, which one of the occupants of the vehicle had hidden on her person. The research activities were then extended at the young woman's home, where she was another small amount of the same substance was found.

For this reason, it is possible to identify the aggravating circumstance provided for by art. 80 of Presidential Decree 309 of 1990, which provides for an increase in the penalty if the crime of «detention for the purpose of sale» of narcotic substances is carried out in the vicinity of, among others, prisons, the girl was arrested in the act of committing the crime referred to. The interested party, by order of the magistrate on duty of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Castrovillari, she was placed under "house arrest", awaiting the hearing to validate the precautionary measure adopted.
