Corigliano Rossano: a dangerous criminal from Campania attempted to evade his identification with a false document. 40-year-old arrested.

During yesterday the Carabinieri of the Cariati Station, part of the Territorial Department of Corigliano Rossano, with the investigative coordination of the Castrovillari Public Prosecutor's Office, directed by the Chief Prosecutor Alessandro D'Alessio, carried out the arrest of a dangerous 40-year-old criminal from Campania, who had been declared a fugitive for about a month. The same, in addition to being affected by the pending precautionary measure, was considered seriously suspected of the crimes of "false attestation of personal identity" and "possession of false identification documents".

Before continuing with the reconstruction of the facts, it seems appropriate to point out that the news is disseminated to guarantee the prerogatives of information and in respect of the rights of the suspect - who still has to be considered subject to the presumption of innocence given the current phase of the proceedings, the whose criminal responsibilities can only be ascertained through a sentence that has become irrevocable.

The anomalous behavior of a tourist, who had arrived in the town of Cariati a few days ago, it did not go unnoticed by the soldiers of the Carabinieri station. The attitude of the man, who did not leave his home and who avoided any type of relationship with the outside, raised doubts among the military that he could be hiding something.

For this reason, yesterday afternoon the Carabinieri - in accordance with the legal requirements - they carried out a search inside the house rented for the summer period by the man and his partner. The calm approach of the interested party and the simultaneous delivery of a false document could mislead the operators, who with the identification carried out they had not been able to find anything relevant.

This circumstance, however singular, led the Carabinieri to carry out further investigations, with particular reference to the identification document provided. In a short time the operators they ascertained that the serial number of the document was associated with another identity and, for this reason, the interested party was subjected to "photo-signalling" judicial police operations.

The outcome of the investigation was decisive in identifying the subject in question, who turned out to be a convicted felon from Salerno accused of very serious crimes, on whose account a precautionary measure was pending, in addition to the fact that a "state of fugitive" had been declared for a month.

The person who escaped the justice system was then notified of the pending precautionary measure and was charged with the charges relating to the false declarations regarding personal identity provided to the judicial police and the use of the altered document.
Once the legal tasks were completed, the arrested person was sent to the Castrovillari prison, where he will remain at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
