The territorial control activity by the Carabinieri of the Scalea Company continues incessantly throughout the upper Tyrrhenian Cosenza. In fact, targeted activities have been prepared by the competent Carabinieri Stations aimed at combating illicit drug trafficking with the constant coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Paola.
Last September 21st, the Carabinieri of the Cittadella del Capo Station, during a specific service, identified a Bonifati, in a remote mountain location, a Indian hemp plantation with an extension of approximately 250 m² consisting of approximately 80 plants ranging in height from 150 to 300 centimetres, ready to be harvested. The same was cleverly hidden among the thick vegetation and was equipped with a complex irrigation system.
The soldiers who arrived on the scene, camouflaged in various places, waited many hours before they arrived 3 subjects of Bonifati, one of whom was already known as he had been arrested 2 years ago for the same crime by the Carabinieri of Cittadella del Capo: the men, a 60 year old, a 55 year old and a 61 year old, unaware of the presence of the Carabinieri, began the operations to collect the plants.
At that point the three were surrounded and immediately blocked: they were also found in possession of two jute bags containing a total of 6.5 kg of marijuana.
The plantation, after sampling, was destroyed on site and the narcotic substance, seized, will be subjected to technical tests by the Narcotic Substance Analysis Laboratory of the Carabinieri of Vibo Valentia.
At the end of the activities, the arrested were subjected to the arrest at their respective homes.
