Zangrillo: “More resources and agents for the country's security”, Government strengthens protections, salaries and staffing for Police Forces

"I thank the Police for defending, every day, our safety, our freedom." This is underlined by the Senator Paolo Zangrillo, Minister for Public AdministrationHis speech opened the IX SAP Congress (Autonomous Police Union) of the provincial secretariat of Turin.  “The officers also have the task of preventing risky situations by intervening promptly – recalls the minister -. This is particularly true in a territory like Piedmont, and especially in Turin, where episodes of violence occur and where some public spaces are illegally occupied.". 

The minister reiterates the need to solve the Askatasuna problem, the occupied social center: «It must be closed, immediately. Whoever passes that place off as a cultural center does not respect the citizens, the work of the Police and the democratic order of our country“. And Zangrillo further underlines: “During 2024 we have witnessed an escalation of violence against the Police Force, all of this cannot be accepted".

On Government responses, the minister remember: "With a bill we have introduced fundamental rules to guarantee greater protection for the Police Forces". Among the further responses of the Government, it is worth mentioning those summarized by the Minister for Public Administration: "In the month of December 2024, over 19 thousand new hires were authorized in the Public Administration: of these, over 16.500 are intended for the security sector, with approximately a third reserved for the State Police. And for the renewals of the 2022-2024 and 2025-2027 contractual rounds, a total of 20 billion have been allocated: a historic result. And the expected increase, with related arrears, will arrive in the paycheck by the month of April".
