Bianco (Reggio Calabria), arrest of two Sudanese traffickers on suspicion of crime
The attempt of the two arrested to hide among the group of migrants with whom they had just landed on the coast of Galati, a hamlet of Brancaleone (Reggio Calabria), was in vain. The timely intervention of the military allowed them to also find GPS and satellite communication devices in their possession.
The month just ended was one of landings, but also an important milestone for the State in the fight against those who encourage irregular immigration.: in fact, during the night between October 31st and November 1st, following in-depth investigations, the Carabinieri of the Bianco Company (Reggio Calabria) arrested two Sudanese citizens - one of whom claimed to be a minor - on suspicion of crime. They were held responsible for having physically ferried, from the coast of Libya to Italy on board a motor vessel, a group of 14 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, who had disembarked autonomously on the afternoon of Thursday October 31st on the beach of Galati, in the municipality of Brancaleone (Reggio Calabria).
It was precisely the prompt reporting to 112 by some residents - who at the time had noticed the vessel in the process of landing - that allowed the Carabinieri of the local Company to intervene immediately a few moments after the migrants landed, among whom the two traffickers were also trying to hide.
The latter, subjected to a search on the spot, were found to be in possession of GPS navigation equipment as well as mobile and satellite phones, a circumstance which, together with the investigative investigations carried out in the following hours, allowed for the collection of sufficient circumstantial evidence to proceed with their arrest and transfer to the competent detention institutions..
