The territorial control services of the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Potenza aimed at combating drug dealing continue to provide operational results of the utmost importance.

Last Tuesday afternoon, the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Viggiano Carabinieri Company, during targeted territorial control activities aimed at combating the phenomenon of drug dealing, completed a complex police operation that ended with the seizure of a large quantity of drugs.
During a specific service coordinated and directed by the Commander of the Carabinieri Company of Viggiano, Captain Giovanni De Tommaso, The military checked a vehicle with a 73-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman on board.

The experience gained in the field allowed the Carabinieri to identify some incongruent elements in the behavior of the two subjects, leading them to proceed with a vehicle search.

The in-depth checks allowed the men of the Benemerita to find, in a special compartment created inside the vehicle, a large quantity of cocaine, equal to approximately one kilo and one hundred grams and, subsequently, to recover precision scales, material for packaging the doses and the cash sum of €4.300 believed to be the proceeds of the illicit drug dealing activity.

The material found was seized, the two occupants of the car were simultaneously declared under arrest and taken to the Viggiano Police Offices from where, at the end of the formal procedures, they were taken to the Potenza and Taranto prisons as ordered by the Potenza Judicial Authority.
The validation hearing, held yesterday before the GIP of the Court of Potenza, saw the arrests carried out by the Carabinieri validated and the two suspects sentenced to precautionary custody in prison.

This important operational result, the result of careful investigative activity and constant commitment on the territory, represents a significant testimony of the action carried out without interruption by all the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Potenza to protect legality and public safety.
