Vittoria (Ragusa): three arrests carried out for attempted murder of a former justice collaborator

Starting from the early hours of the morning of June 4th, the State Police executed three arrest warrants issued by the Catania District Anti-Mafia Office for “attempted aggravated murder and mafia association“. The measures were adopted as the suspects were accused, in collaboration with each other, of the crimes of attempted murder against a former collaborator of justice and of mafia-type criminal association.

In particular, the investigations started immediately after attempted murder which occurred on April 25th in Vittoria, coordinated by the Catania District Anti-Mafia Directorate, have allowed us to hypothesize that the arrested people are responsible for the commission of the ambush, as well as the existence of a dangerous armed criminal organization of a mafia nature, attributable to the "Stidda Vittoria".

The investigation activity corroborated by technical interception activity and traditional judicial police services has made it possible to believe that within the criminal association there was the objective of the physical elimination of a list of people who collaborated with Justice and who are present in Vittoria, this with the aim of revenge and in order to consolidate the exclusive control of all illicit business of interest to the criminal organization in Vittoria and the entire province of Ragusa.

The investigative activity underlying the measures adopted also made it possible to shed light on the availability of a considerable number of weapons, including war weapons, and on the possible use by members of the mafia clan to carry out the criminal plan of the organization and to acquire control of economic activities in the city through extortion activities carried out against numerous entrepreneurs and traders.
