Vicenza: he beats his partner at home and lashes out at the policemen, a broken arm for a police officer.
Several calls were received at the Police Headquarters Operations Center on the emergency number "112" reporting a serious situation occurring in a city condominium: a man in a rage was attacking his partner, banging violently on the door of his apartment amidst the woman's desperate screams.
The patrols of the "Flying" Squad of the Police Headquarters, who promptly arrived on site, were able to hear the screams and crying of a newborn coming from the building from outside the condominium.
Upon entering the apartment, the policemen were greeted by a young non-EU citizen of 25 years old, with criminal and/or police records for crimes of various nature and severity, including resistance and damage; he, clearly drunk and shirtless, tried in every way to push the officers away, trying to prevent them from entering the house.
The latter, sensing the situation, nevertheless decided to enter the apartment, where they saw the man's partner in a corner in tears, with swelling on her face and evident signs of violence, while she was cradling a newborn baby in her arms.
In the meantime, requested by the Operations Center of the Police Headquarters, healthcare personnel also came to the woman's aid.
When the 118 ambulance arrived, the man flew into a rage and, after threatening the police, attacked an officer, twisting his hand and pushing him to the ground. The man was thus handcuffed and arrested for resisting and violating a public official, and for mistreatment of the woman.
The policeman suffered injuries that healed in 30 days, while the woman, who also sought medical treatment, was diagnosed with injuries that healed in 15 days. In order to protect her safety and that of the newborn, the young victim was placed in a protected home.
Taken to the police station, at the end of the judicial police proceedings the man was associated with the prison at the disposal of the public prosecutor's office.
In consideration of the seriousness of what happened and the precedents that emerged against the violent attacker, in parallel with the judicial process, the Police Chief of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori ordered the issuance of an Expulsion Decree against him.
“Gender violence, in addition to representing a particularly hateful form of crime as it is committed to the detriment of victims who are often unable to defend themselves, and which too often degenerates into real tragedies, represents a serious cultural problem – Commissioner Sartori highlighted –. Furthermore, in this case, for the umpteenth time a Police Officer had to suffer a violent attack by a criminal, which caused him very serious injuries. It is unacceptable that those who represent the State, in enforcing the law, should systematically suffer insults and violence. For this reason it was decided to proceed with the arrest and consequent expulsion of those who repeatedly demonstrated, even violently, that they did not respect the laws and institutions."
