in last weekend, following a call received from the “San Bortolo” Hospital” on the emergency number “113”, the Police Operations Center sent a patrol of the “Flying Squad” to the City emergency room where, shortly before, a 36 year old woman, victim of violence of gender, had been medicated following injury caused by them violent beatings received by her ex-partner – such OBJ, 34 year old Ghanaian citizen – and judged to be curable with 10 day prognosis.
Immediately listened to by the Police regarding what happened to her, the womens, in a strong state of agitation, has reported di be afraid to return to your home where, during the night, her former partner had her violently beaten. For this reason the police patrol, to protect the safety of the victim, has taken back home.
After entering the woman's apartment, the Police Officers carried out a raid meticulous control of the premises, apparently empty; during the control in the bedroomHowever, the police identified them OBJ hidden inside a closet.
The personal data of her attacker, which the woman had reported to the Police, had allowed them to operate in safety since, from the check carried out on the Database of the Ministry of the Interior, OBJ was found to be recipient of a Precautionary Custody Order for tax evasion issued a few days earlier by the Judicial Authority of Vicenza.
After being immobilized by the Agents, to protect the safety of all those present, including the victim of the attack, the subject was therefore accompanied to the police station from where, at the end of the Judicial Police activities, was declared under arrest and transferred to the Vicenza prison.
OBJ, in addition to having been convicted of the crime of escape and for which he was arrested on this occasion, has other convictions against him for resisting a public official, as well as different complaints of injuries and mistreatment in the family, to which was added the further complaint to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Vicenza for the events that occurred during the night of last weekend.
In consideration of what happened and the specific precedents established against him, the Quaestor of the Province of Vicenza Paolo Sartori gave instructions to the Immigration Office to start the process - in parallel with the judicial one - aimed at the expulsion of the foreign criminal from the National Territory.
"Gender violence, in addition to representing a particularly hateful form of crime as it is committed against victims who are often unable to defend themselves, represents a serious cultural problem - highlighted the Police Commissioner of the Province of Vicenza Paolo Sartori –. The State Police represents a fundamental hub of a network made up of institutions, local bodies, anti-violence centers and voluntary associations, and has always been at the forefront, even with specific projects, in encouraging a culture of gender equality, equality and respect for freedoms, with the aim of eliminating cultural heritage and discrimination, as well as with the aim of helping women to defend themselves, ask for help and report the violence they have suffered".
