Vicenza-Avellino riots: the Police Chief issues 4 new DASPOs

The Police Chief of the Province of Vicenza has issued further 4 (four) bans on access to sports facilities (DA.SPO) at the expense of as many ultras fans of Avellino that, on the evening of Sunday 2 June, inside of the “R. Menti” sports facility in Vicenza, during the football match valid for the Playoffs of the national football championship “C” series year 2023/2024 “LR VICENZA vs US AVELLINO1912 were responsible, together with other fans who remain unknown at the moment, for the violent conduct perpetrated against some stewards, the lighting and throwing of some firecrackers and smoke bombs, both towards the Vicenza fans and also inside the pitch, so much so that force the referee to suspend the match for a few minutes, as well as having created, with their own behavior, disturbances to public order.

Among the four, three of them will remain away from the stadiums for three years, the fourth one instead is the recipient of a ban on access to sports facilities for 10 years with the additional requirement to appear in person at the Avellino Police Headquarters for a period of 8 (eight) years effective from the date of notification of the same ban during official matches of the Irpina team.

The prohibition will prohibit access to all places, stadiums and sports facilities located in the national territory as well as in the territory of foreign states where sporting events take place, including training, of any competitive, professional, amateur and friendly level, of a national and international nature, connected to sports such as Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Rugby and Water Polo, with the extension of the same ban to the vicinity of the places of the demonstration, as well as the railway stations, bus stations, subways, airports and ports, toll booths and motorway service areas and other places in any case interested in the parking, transit or transport of those who participate in or attend the same competitions.

The four provisions follow the one already issued in the phases following the sporting event which had also led to the deferred arrest of another Irpinia fan which, climbing over the fence separating the Curva Nord – the section reserved for guests, headed towards the Distinti sector of the opposing fans, trying to tear off a red and white flag to take possession of it and, failing, he called for violence.
