Vicenza, drug dealing, degradation and petty crime: 2 expulsions from the national territory, 3 mandatory expulsion orders and 2 oral warnings.

In the day of Tuesday August 1, State Police carried out an extraordinary control operation of the territory which affected the municipal territory of Bassano del Grappa and access routes Municipalities of Romano d'Ezzelino and Cassola, arranged by Ordinance of Police Commissioner of the Province of Vicenza Paolo Sartori. The operational activities are directly consequent to the meetings, which took place some time ago, between the Police Commissioner of the Province of Vicenza Paolo Sartori and the Mayors of the Municipalities of the Province of Vicenza, and were concentrated in the "areas at risk" of the municipal territory of Bassano del Grappa, as part of the project to maintain a constant presence of the police forces throughout the provincial territory, by carrying out systematic and targeted general prevention and control activities of Public Businesses in those municipal contexts where the Mayors, in their function as Local Public Safety Authorities, have reported to the Provincial Authorities - Prefect and Police Commissioner - the presence of particular problems relating to urban safety.

Approximately 20 men and women belonging, as mentioned, to the State Police, serving at the Public Security Police Station of Bassano del Grappa and the Railway Police, with the aid of the Crime Prevention Department of the State Police. The prevention and repression of various delinquent phenomena and problems resulting from urban decay - in particular the dealing of narcotic substances and episodes of widespread petty crime - which usually occur in some specific areas of the various territorial contexts, represent a primary objective, to be pursued in all the Municipalities of the Province, in order to guarantee ahigh quality of civil coexistence: these extraordinary operations are therefore functional to adequately combat the crimes that cause greater social alarm and to increase, at the same time, the presence and visibility of the Police Forces in the area.

The areas paid attention by the Agents were above all those of the Bassano del Grappa railway station, Historic center and public parks; Furthermore, 3 checkpoints were carried out along the main access arteries to the city of Bassano del Grappa and in the territory of the municipalities of Romano d'Ezzelino and Cassola. Overall they were 41 vehicles and 92 people were checked, of which 16 foreigners and 17 with criminal and/or police records. At the end of the operations conducted in the area and the verification activities against all the people identified during these services, the Anti-Crime Division of the Police Headquarters - with regards to the presence of criminals implicated in criminal activities - prepared the administrative procedures for the purposes of the adoption by the Police Commissioner of the following measures:

- 2 Orders of removal from the National Territory against as many non-EU citizens who, during the checks, were found to be irregular in Italy and with criminal and/or police prejudices against them. The investigations carried out by the Immigration Office were immediate, following which the Police Commissioner issued as many Removal Decrees, ordering foreigners to leave the territory within 7 days; if they do not comply, they will be reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office and forcibly accompanied to their country of origin;
- 3 Sheets of Via Obligatori from the Municipality of Bassano del Grappa, for a period of 3 years, towards subjects burdened by criminal and police records, residing in other Municipalities and without any right to remain in the territory of Bassano del Grappa;
- 2 Oral Notices (Prevention Measure provided for by the Code of Anti-Mafia Laws) against as many Italian citizens with criminal and/or police records for crimes of various kinds, in particular against the person, which, for these reasons, denote a marked social danger.

“The synergy between the Public Security Authority and the municipal administrations is essential with a view to guaranteeing citizens peaceful coexistence in urban areas – Commissioner Sartori highlighted –. This allows the Police Forces to intervene effectively to prevent and, if necessary, repress forms of degradation and situations of widespread illegality, and this also thanks to the timely and systematic application of Personal Prevention Measures aimed at preventing subjects who do not respect the laws can take root in these territories".
