Venice: The President of the Veneto Region Zaia comments on the incident regarding the arrest of two “baby robbers”

“Apart from the fact that the work of the Police forces and the Judiciary is proving to be increasingly valuable, the news coming from Padua is not comforting at all. It is sad, in fact, know that two very young robbers were stopped by the Flying Squad personnel and placed under judicial police custody. Once again the news presents us with forms of youth crime, a phenomenon towards which it is necessary to keep a watchful eye maximum attention so that it does not become a breeding ground for further social unease and a generalized and incorrect image of our young people does not take hold, the vast majority of whom are committed to work and study, contributing to the life of the community".

With these words the president of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, comments on the news that two young robbers were stopped by the State Police in Padua.

“I don't know the personal history of the two young people arrested – continues the Governor - but the intervention of the Police interrupted a conduct that appears to have been carried out to the detriment of various citizens. An illegal conduct and also capable of further alienating the protagonists from society, so young. Also for this reason, if on the one hand it is necessary to commit to understanding the causes in order to encourage initiatives on an educational level, on the other hand when the seriousness requires it, one must proceed with adequate actions on the sanctions level. The success that is crowning the efforts of the Police Forces confirms that in the face of the concern raised by the phenomenon, firmness is necessary, also as a starting point for that recovery and reintegration that any penalties must aim for”.
