Venice: Operation “High Impact”, 12 expulsions carried out
As part of the strengthening of prevention and territorial control services at provincial level, as decided by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety on the basis of the agreements between the Prefect and the Police Chief, The activity of the Venice State Police aimed at combating widespread crime and urban decay in the city continues, in Mestre and Marghera, as well as in the historic centre of the lagoon city.
In addition to ordinary services, targeted high impact inter-force services have been set up in Mestre and Marghera. This prevention and control activity, coordinated by the Venice Police Headquarters, involved the officers of the Venice Police Headquarters with the assistance of the Crime Prevention Unit of Padua, the police officers of the Venice Polfer and with the help of other territorial forces operating in the area: the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza and the Local Police and allowed the tracking of the following on the territory: several individuals burdened by police prejudices, in some cases even irregular on the national territory.
Thanks to these services, approximately 300 people and more than 40 vehicles were identified and checked by the State Police operators employed. About 20 commercial establishments in the area were checked, within which, in addition to checks on the regularity of the activity, the customers were checked. Two foreign citizens, following complete identification, were found to be irregular.
Through the Immigration Office of the Venice Police Headquarters, expulsion procedures have been initiated against the two. One of the two was accompanied to await repatriation to his country of origin. The other to Rome.
The work carried out by the Immigration Office has led to the overall completion of 12 expulsions, of which 6 detentions at the CPR of irregular subjects on the territory traced by the Police Forces and accompanied to the places of detention on the national territory awaiting the administrative procedures preliminary to their accompaniment to the country of origin.
The activity carried out by the Anti-Crime Division of the Police Headquarters also continued effectively. As part of the preventive measures, against those individuals considered, in various capacities, socially dangerous, the Police Chief of Venice has ordered a total of 7 Oral Warnings, 7 Mandatory Way Out Notices and 1 Prohibition of Access to Urban Areas. They have also been adopted 8 Warnings for “domestic violence” and 2 Warnings for “stalking”.
The activity of the Railway Police and the Air and Maritime Border Police of Venice was also intense. In fact, in the stations of Mestre and Venice Santa Lucia, over 800 people were checked.
Furthermore, within the scope of the control activities aimed at contrast of predatory crimes, 9 citizens, not resident in the Venetian territory, they were intercepted and stopped near the Venice Santa Lucia railway station and were reported to the competent authority for failure to comply with the Mandatory Via Notice.
As regards the Border Police, however, approximately 73.000 people were checked, 2 foreigners were rejected at the border, 5 sanctions were issued for administrative violations.
Furthermore, during the night just passed between Friday and Saturday, checkpoints were carried out by the Venice Highway Police, with the assistance of medical personnel from the Venice Police Headquarters.
The Highway Police patrols proceeded to subject 37 motorists to a physical and psychological check.
5 fines were issued against 3 individuals who tested positive to the breathalyzer test and 2 drivers who tested positive for the use of narcotic substances.
The activities of the State Police and the extraordinary checks arranged in agreement with the Prefect and planned by the Police Chief will continue without interruption in the coming weeks, in order to carry out constant monitoring.
