Valenza (Alessandria), they attempted to assault a goldsmith's workshop. The Carabinieri arrest the rest of the gang of robbers "on the move" from Crotone and the Valenzan insider
The failed attack by robbers “on the move” from the province of Crotone, who on Thursday 29 August had tried to burgle a goldsmith's workshop in via Martiri di Lero, disguised and armed with a pistol, had already led immediately to the arrest of two of them by the Carabinieri.
The other two accomplices, however, had managed to disappear on board a still unknown car, triggering the Carabinieri's investigations to identify them.
The investigations, carried out by the NOR of Alessandria and the Valenza Station, through the acquisition and analysis of surveillance camera footage, databases and telephone records, in parallel with telephone and environmental interceptions, they allowed them to identify the other two members of the gang from Crotone, the material perpetrators of the attempted robbery, and a fifth person from Valenza, who had given them logistical support, a cousin of one of the robbers.
The robbery had been meticulously planned, or so thought the perpetrators, who had stolen one of the cars used in Alessandria two months earlier and hidden it in a shed in the Pavia area, where they had also replaced the license plate with a Spanish one. The day before the attempted robbery, the four robbers had left by car from Calabria, maintaining contact with the Valencian insider, and once ready they had started the criminal action. But the promptness of the jewelry store employee and the immediate intervention of the Carabinieri had ruined all their hopes.
The robbery quickly turned into a failure, with two of them quickly fleeing with handcuffs, while the other two remained untraceable for a short time.
The continuation of the investigations then led the Carabinieri to identify the insider, a 24-year-old from Valenza, and subsequently the rest of the gang, in Strongoli, in the Crotone area, where at dawn on November 13, the precautionary custody measures in prison were carried out for a 34-year-old and a 23-year-old, arrested by the Carabinieri of the NORM Operations Section of Alessandria and the Valenza Station, assisted by colleagues from the local Cirò Marina Company. At the same time, in Valenza, the precautionary measure was carried out against the insider, who was placed under house arrest.
The three join the 23-year-old and the 36-year-old, also from the province of Crotone, who were arrested for attempted robbery with multiple aggravating circumstances while committing the crime and who were also subjected to the precautionary measure of house arrest at the time.
